Querida Palmirinha!

Palmirinha, moradora da Vila Mariana desde os anos 70, é uma artista na cozinha que conquistou um público fiel. E não só pelos seus dotes culinários, mas pelo carisma nato que não a deixa ficar muito tempo longe das telinhas. Ela confessa que se surpreende até hoje com toda essa popularidade, pois teve uma vida nada fácil, e travou uma batalha e tanto até chegar aqui vitoriosa

Perdoe-nos Claude Troisgros, Olivier Anquier e até mesmo nossos colunistas de gastronomia, mas, quando o ingrediente é calor humano, ninguém chega perto da vizinha culinarista, Palmirinha! Com carisma e alto astral, ela conquistou um público fiel que a acompanhou na TV por 20 anos, tempo em que revelou receitas simples e deliciosas, e aqueles segredinhos de cozinha dos tempos da vovó. Ela aprendeu a cozinhar pequenininha, primeiramente com a mãe e, depois, com Georgette, uma senhora francesa que a criou até a adolescência. 

A história de Palmira Nery da Silva Onofre é permeada de altos e baixos, conforme revelou em sua autobiografia “A receita da minha vida”, lançada em 2010, pela editora Benvirá. “Mas nunca perdi o otimismo”, garante. 

Ela nasceu em 29 de junho, de 1931, em Bauru (SP). O pai foi um dos fundadores da cidade, e a mãe, dona de um hotel e responsável pela cozinha. “Com ela aprendi a fazer o pão e a massa”, recorda. No entanto, sua mãe era muito violenta, e o pai, para proteger a filha, entregou-a, aos 5 anos, para Georgette, uma senhora francesa que trouxe a menina para a cidade de São Paulo. “Com ela aprendi muita coisa.” Na cozinha de madame Georgette o comum eram os pratos sofisticados. “E eu ficava de olho.” E foi assim que Palmira começou a ter segurança de criar suas próprias receitas.

Aos 14 anos, voltou a Bauru, devido a morte do pai. Lá trabalhou para sustentar a mãe e dois irmãos mais novos. Aos 19 anos, casou-se e teve três filhas: Tânia, Sandra e Nancy. Só depois se alfabetizou, mas o marido, muito ciumento, não deixou que ela continuasse os estudos. “Aprendi tudo sozinha.” O casamento não deu certo e ela saiu de Bauru, em 1960, levando as três filhas de volta para São Paulo.

“Para sustentar minhas filhas trabalhei num monte de coisas.” Foi governanta, trabalhou em fábrica e até lavou carros. “Meu sonho era poder pagar uma boa faculdade para elas.” Descobriu então que poderia ganhar a vida cozinhando. “Já fazia tempo que elaborava minhas próprias receitas e resolvi vender comida para fora.” Na década de 70, mudou-se para a Vila Mariana. “Já fazia casamentos, batizados, aniversários e aperfeiçoava as receitas que já sabia”, relembra.

A vida de Palmira começou a mudar realmente quando ela recebeu um convite da produção do programa Silvia Popovic, na Band, que tratava do tema “Como criar os filhos sozinha”. Muito gentil, como sempre, levou sua experiência e uma cestinha de empadinhas de presente para a apresentadora. Silvia Popovic adorou e em agradecimento divulgou o telefone da convidada no ar. “Minha freguesia aumentou bastante depois disso.”

Enquanto criava as filhas sem descanso, não imaginava o que o destino havia lhe reservado. Poucos dias depois, Palmira recebeu outro convite, da produção do programa Note & Anote, apresentado por Ana Maria Braga, ainda na TV Record. Agora, para participar do quadro “Café da Manhã”. Com seu jeito simples e sempre falante, Palmira conquistou todo o set, inclusive a apresentadora, que a convidou para fazer outra participação no programa. Depois disso, ganhou um quadro semanal no Note & Anote e passou a ser chamada de Palmirinha, apelido carinhoso dado por Ana Maria Braga. “Sou muito agradecida a Deus; nunca imaginei que trabalharia na televisão”, ressalta.

Depois de cinco anos e meio na Record, ganhou o próprio programa,  “TV Culinária”, na TV Gazeta. “Fui contratada pela emissora e isso melhorou muito minha vida.” O companheiro, Huguinho, um boneco que a acompanhou até agosto de 2010, surgiu nessa época. E estava ao seu lado quando, aos prantos, despediu-se de seu público. “Recebi propostas para voltar, mas sem meu boneco não vou! Além disso, resolvi sair da Gazeta pois queria descansar, trabalhar menos”, confessa.

Palmirinha conquistou o afeto do telespectador e, embora esteja a mais de um ano sem programa, não ficou longe da mídia. “Não tive descanso!”, brinca. Foi convidada para inúmeros programas e apareceu em sua maioria — foi até no CQC. “Eu me valorizo por chegar onde cheguei, mas não esnobo ninguém. Achei que ia ficar esquecida, mas para minha surpresa não canso de dar entrevistas! Devo isso à imprensa, graças a Deus!” Sondagens houve muitas, e há rumores de que até a Rede Globo está interessada nela. “O que importa para mim é que criei minhas filhas. Elas fizeram faculdade e se casaram bem! Realizei meu sonho”, diz a já bisavó.

Palmirinha acalmou um pouco os passos depois que passou dos 80 anos, mas continua a fazer tudo o que precisa no bairro: “Adoro a Vila Mariana. Aqui é muito gostoso, encontro tudo de que preciso perto de casa e todo mundo me conhece; a vizinhança me trata muito bem!”.
