O vizinho Cildo Oliveira

Inspirado pela cultura dos Índios Kadiweu, que vivem na fronteira do Brasil com o Paraguai, o renomado artista plástico Cildo Oliveira se destaca por fazer um trabalho inovador e sustentável ao se apropriar de conceitos de outros artistas, escritores e cineastas para produzir sua arte. 

Há centenas de anos, antes da colonização do Brasil, uma peculiar tribo indígena chamada Kadiwéu vive na fronteira do Mato Grosso do Sul e do Paraguai. Os Kadiwéu (ou Kaduveo, Kadivéu, Kadiveo) viveram do saque e do tributo de seus vizinhos. São também conhecidos como “índios cavaleiros”, por causa da inigualável habilidade com a montaria. Sua organização política e social segue uma rigorosa hierarquia, que os separa entre nobres senhores e cativos. Historicamente, são reconhecidos pelo corajoso empenho durante a guerra da Tríplice Aliança, quando se uniram à força militar brasileira, entre os anos de 1864 e 1870. Sua população já foi muito mais numerosa, sendo que atualmente há pouco mais de 1.629 membros. Tinham o costume de se apropriar da arte das tribos com as quais guerreavam. Essas e outras particularidades dos Kadiwéu, pesquisadas por diversos historiadores do mundo, inspiram há muitos anos as criações do artista plástico Cildo Oliveira, um pernambucano de sessenta e um anos que vive há dezoito no pedaço.

 Cildo Oliveira é neto de uma índia – com quem tem uma profunda e misteriosa ligação – e de um imigrante italiano, que foi dono de um próspero engenho localizado na cidade de Palmares, em Pernambuco. Durante as primeiras décadas do século XX, com a industrialização do local, e com a morte do avô, os filhos decidiram vender o engenho e partir para o Recife. “Eles não tinham condições de industrializar o engenho”, conta. Na cidade, cada filho tomou um caminho diferente. Seu pai, na época com dezessete anos, alistou-se na junta policial e logo ganhou um posto na segurança do Palácio do Governo do Recife, ao salvar a vida do então governador Agamenon Magalhães. 

Cildo lembra que, com cinco anos de idade, perambulava pelo palácio. “Os políticos que me viam por lá diziam para o meu pai: seu filho ainda será um de nós”, relembra. Nessa época, adorava desenhar. Na juventude, Cildo dava os primeiros sinais do seu talento inato para as artes, chegando, inclusive, a montar um ateliê. Entretanto, precisou decidir qual faculdade cursar. Não podia negar sua vocação natural para as artes, mas, por pressão do pai, optou pelo bacharelado em direito. “Nunca pude cursar a Belas Artes. Jamais meu pai permitiria”, lamenta.

Aos vinte e dois anos e já com certa liberdade em relação à tutela do pai, tomou uma atitude radical. Largou o direito, o emprego estável na cidade, e foi morar em São Paulo para, finalmente, fazer o curso de arte na FAAP. A partir daí, deslanchou em talento e criatividade. Trabalhou no ateliê de sua professora, Regina Silveira, frequentou muitas exposições e, numa delas, conheceu a artista plástica Lourdes Cedran, esposa do genial físico brasileiro e crítico de arte Mário Schenberg. Foi ela quem organizou sua primeira grande exposição. “Eu tive a sorte de estar no lugar certo e na hora certa”, reconhece. Cildo já expôs trabalhos por todo o país e no exterior. Já foi professor universitário e, durante o ano de 1987, por solicitação do então governador Orestes Quércia, criou e dirigiu a Casa das Rosas, que é o mais representativo espaço de arte e literatura de São Paulo. Desde 2001, também coordena o Prêmio Porto Seguro Fotografia, considerado o prêmio de maior expressão do gênero no País.

Cildo se define como “um artista que não cria só arte de ateliê”, pois trabalha com outras linguagens artísticas: “Até pouco tempo, o artista só trabalhava em ateliês, hoje ele tem a preocupação de discutir os processos da arte. E o que são esses processos? Tudo o que envolve não só a criação pessoal, mas também a de outros artistas”, explica. Suas obras podem ser vistas no Museu dos Bandeirantes, na Assembleia Legislativa, onde possui uma escultura, ou nos seis painéis da nova linha do Metrô Rebouças – Vila Sônia. Seus trabalhos também estão em vários  museus, acervos e coleções particulares, como: Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo, Acervo Artístico dos Palácios do Governo de São Paulo, Acervo Yazigi, Galeria Metropolitana do Recife, Brazilian American Cultural Institut –Washington, Ohio University Museum, entre outros.

Sua metodologia de criação é simples. Assim como os Kadiwéu, que tomavam posse do conceito artístico de outras tribos, Cildo se apropria do conceito de outros artistas, escritores e cineastas para criar sua arte, que expressa por meio da pintura, do desenho, da gravura e da cerâmica. Atualmente, desenvolve sua obra com papel especialmente manufaturado: “Os papéis são feitos com saquinhos de chás, fibras, papel reciclado e celulose industrializada”.  A matéria-prima ganha cores e diversas iconografias da cultura indígena. Algumas, inclusive, por meio das mais diferentes texturas, chegam a lembrar o couro animal.

Ao contar sua história e tudo o que o inspira, o renomado artista relembra uma memorável cena: “Minha avó índia fumando seu habitual cachimbo, em sua casa, no Recife e, atrás dela, um quadro do vulcão Vesúvio, que destruiu Pompeia, comprado pelo meu avô na Itália”. É essa miscigenação que faz de Cildo Oliveira um artista único e que, ao fundir suas raízes à linguagem contemporânea, é reconhecido como um dos mais criativos artistas plásticos de nossa época!
