Tikal, a incrível cidade Maia na selva do Guatemala

Os guatemaltecos dizem que Tikal é a oitava maravilha do mundo e que só não entrou na lista das “7 maravilhas do mundo” porque a população do Guatemala é pequena e, portanto, eles não tiveram votos suficientes na votação mundial. E posso dizer, tendo visitado já duas das mais incríveis cidades ruínas do mundo, Machu Picchu, no Peru, e Angkor Wat, no Camboja, que Tikal é tão impresionante quanto!

O parque de Tikal fica em Peten, Nordeste da Guatemala e dá para chegar de ônibus ou de avião a partir da Cidade de Guatemala. Também é possível contratar um guia a partir do México. Para quem estiver na região de Cancun, fica apenas algumas horas de distância. 

Decidi ficar hospedada no hotel que fica dentro do parque de Tikal. É a opção que permite permanecer dentro do parque ainda de madrugada, para ver o sol nascer de cima das Pirâmides Maias. Cheguei ao parque quase anoitecendo e fiquei impressionada com os quilô-metros que temos que percorrer dentro da floresta antes de chegar na área dos hotéis. Dormi cedo porque às 4h da manhã meu guia estava me esperando para entrar na área das ruínas. O hotel prepara um lanchinho de café de manhã que você pode levar para comer depois. Minha sorte não estava em alta porque o hotel esqueceu de deixar o meu lanche para fora; mas tudo bem, seguimos com o meu guia e o pequeno grupo para a entrada do parque.

Caminhando pela floresta ainda no escuro, apenas com nossas lanternas (eu, com meu celular), não consegui distinguir ao certo o que estava ao meu redor. O mais impressionante é que a selva dessa região da Guatemala está cheia de macacos bugios, que costumam soltar seus gritos logo cedo pela manhã e ao final do dia. Para quem nunca ouviu esses macacos, embora pequeninos, fazem um rugido parecido com dinossauros (acreditem!). É uma ótima maneira de começar a viagem e a entrar no clima da aventura. 

Aos poucos o dia vai clareando e a paisagem ficando mais nítida. Começei a perceber enormes pirâ-mides brotando entre as árvores. 

Como chegamos cedo, o parque ainda estava tranquilo, quase que só para a gente. O cenário parece de filme! E é! Foi nesse local que George Lucas se inspirou e rodou um dos primeiros filmes da saga Star Wars, lá em 1977. 

Seguimos com o guia que foi nos explicando cada parte e história das pirâmides, praças e casas que haviam por ali. Tikal é o maior complexo de ruínas da civilização Maia que existe e muitas das construções ainda não foram escavadas. 

A floresta foi pouco a pouco dominando as construções e muitas vezes demora-se mais de 5 anos para escavar por completo uma só pirâmide. Ou seja, em muitos lugares do parque ainda tem arqueólogos trabalhando e ¨descobrindo¨ novas ruínas e edifícios. 

Que delicia perambular por esse parque, descobrindo novas estruturas, cada uma mais impressionante do que a outra!

Aproximando-se do meio dia, o calor e humidade começam a bater forte. Fiquei feliz de estar em um hotel dentro do parque, porque pude voltar e passar as horas mais quentes do dia na piscina. 

Mas eu queria mais! Voltei ao parque no final do dia para ver o pôr do sol. Tem uma pirâmide específica que todos sobem e ficam ali esperando a melhor vista do entardecer. O dia termina com o sol indo embora detrás da floresta e eu obser-vando as pontas das pirâmides despontando por entre as árvores.
