Firenze, Florence, Florença

A cidade, na Toscana, é uma das mais visitadas da Itália, por pessoas de todo o mundo, amantes ou não das artes. Berço do Renascimento, suas ruas são repletas de obras de arte e de igrejas que guardam tesouros em arquitetura, pintura, afresco e escultura. No verão o centro histórico é tomado por milhares de turistas que vêm de todas as partes do mundo para conhecer as imagens históricas que estudamos nos livros de arte. A estação de trem fica em frente à igreja de Santa Maria Novella, aberta de segunda a quinta-feira, das 9h às 17h, às sextas, das 11h às 17h30, e nos dias festivos e finais de semana, das 12h às 17h. O ingresso custa cinco euros e é possível visitar tanto a Basílica como o museu.

Uma das obras mais importantes é David, de Michelangelo. A escultura, de 4,1m num pedestal de 1,5m, representa a força da cidade contra o governo Médici e é símbolo do Renascimento. Como obra pública a escultura ganha força representativa e passa a ser ícone também da Itália e do made in Italy. A obra já foi concebida para representar a cidade, como a figura bíblica armada apenas de uma funda que vence o gigante Golias. No entanto, Michelangelo optou por fazer um David diferente da representação de Bernini ou Donatello, que escolheram representar a personagem bíblica em ação de combate, no mo-mento em que está prestes a acertar Golias com uma pedra. A imagem de Michelangelo representa um instante de reflexão de David, que ainda tem a pedra na mão e a funda apoiada nos ombros.

Michelangelo demorou 18 meses para esculpir, num único bloco de mármore, a figura de David. O trabalho foi feito às escondidas para que, no dia da sua apresentação, causasse surpresa à cidade. No início, a ideia era instalar a escultura num dos contrafortes do Duomo de Santa Maria de Fiori, mas depois do resultado final, de tamanha perfeição, resolveu-se, através de uma comissão, que o melhor local seria a Piazza della Signoria, em frente ao Palazzo Vecchio. 

A obra foi entregue no dia 24 de junho de 1504, dia de São João Batista, padroeiro da cidade. Alguns fiéis aos Médici apedrejaram a obra enquanto era transportada por 40 homens, mas não causaram grandes danos. Tempos depois a obra foi atingida nos pés  por um maluco e ainda no braço, por objetos que foram jogados por vândalos, de cima do Palazzo Vecchio. Em 1873, a escultura foi transferida para a Galleria dell’Accademia, onde pode ser visitada de terça-feira a domingo, das 8h15 às 18h50; o ingresso custa 6,5 euros, que equivalem a aproximadamente 20 reais. 

Com a transferência da obra para o museu, os cidadãos de Firenze reclamaram a falta da imagem na Piazza della Signoria, e em 1910 foi instalada uma cópia do original, em mármore. Em 1846 foi feita também uma cópia em bronze, para ser instalada na Piazzale Michelangelo, inaugurada em 1869: um lugar encantador, para homenagear o cidadão mais famoso no momento em que a cidade era capital da Itália. 

No ponto mais alto de Firenze, que pode ser chamado de mirante,  se vê toda a cidade, cortada pelo rio Arno. No dia do padroeiro da região, a festa é marcada pelos fogos de artifício, que os fiorentinos soltam dali, numa apresentação ímpar. Entretanto, o amanhecer e o crepúsculo vistos do mirante são espetáculos diários e gratuitos.

A cidade de Firenze conta também com jardins maravilhosos. Um especial me fascina: o Giardino di Boboli. O terreno foi comprado por Luca Pitti em 1418, onde 40 anos mais tarde foi construído o Palazzo Pitti. O paisagismo do jardim foi encomendado a Niccolò Tribolo, mas, com sua morte, o projeto foi finalizado por Bartolomeo Ammannati. Em torno do eixo principal, nascem ruas, vias, terraços e bosques adornados com esculturas, mais parecendo um museu a céu aberto. O jardim fica aberto todos os dias, das 8h15 às 18h30, menos durante o inverno, de novembro a fevereiro, quando fecha mais cedo, às 16h30. O ingresso custa sete euros e dá direito a visitar também o Museu da Porcelana, o Museu da Prata, o Museu do Traje e os jardins Bardini.

Porta Romana é a saída mais ao sul do jardim de Boboli e da muralha da cidade; era antigamente a ligação para os vindos de Roma ou Siena. O local ostenta uma praça onde está instalada uma madona muito diferente, esculpida no antigo estilo fiorentino. Nessa praça, aos finais de semana, geralmente há apresentações de músicos de rua.

Uma tradição da cidade são os cadeados colocados pelos namorados na Ponte Vecchia, apesar da multa de 160 euros. O lugar vive repleto de juras de amor dos turistas. A Ponte Vecchia hoje abriga um mercado de bijuterias, pedras, artesanatos e lembranças da cidade. Liga o centro histórico ao bairro no alto, chamado Santo Espírito, onde se encontra a Igreja de mesmo nome, na frente da qual há uma praça, ladeada pelos restaurantes mais descolados e menos turísticos. Um jantar ali pode sair em torno de 30 euros por pessoa, que inclui uma cerveja ou uma taça de vinho. No verão, o caminho para Santo Espírito nos presenteia com o belo pôr do sol por trás da Ponte Vecchia.

Florença possui também muitos mercados, de frutas, roupas, sapatos, alimentos, antiguidades… Meus preferidos são: a feira de San Lorenzo, que funciona de terça a sábado, onde se vendem roupas, sapatos e lembranças da cidade, e o Mercado Central, que é o melhor mercado de alimentos da cidade e onde, no segundo andar, depois da reforma, foram instalados restaurantes típicos da culinária italiana.

Existem inúmeras atrações além das que mencionei aqui. Então, quando for à Itália, siga o conselho de Ítalo Calvino e procure se perder nessa cidade, para saborear cada detalhe da capital da Toscana.
