A Alemanha do Vale Europeu
Em ano de Brasil e Alemanha, que vai até maio de 2014, busca-se uma relação mais próxima entre os dois países, uma parceria estratégica para oferecer respostas sustentáveis diante dos desafios do século 21. E a Alemanha me faz voltar ao tempo em que tive um grande convívio na região do Vale Europeu, em Santa Catarina. Essa região abriga a maior quantidade de colônias alemãs do Brasil, a cidade conhecida pela Oktoberfest, Blumenau, e as cidades vizinhas: Timbó, Pomerode e Indaial.
Inicialmente patrocinada por Dom Pedro I, em 1818, a colonização do Brasil por alemães tinha o objetivo de povoar regiões desabitadas — essencialmente o sul, sujeito a invasões e guerras constantes. Além disso, o imperador buscava trazer soldados estrangeiros para o exército brasileiro. Foi entre 1850 e 1871, ano da instituição do Império Alemão, que a imigração alemã se intensificou. Os recém-chegados se estabeleceram nas regiões costeiras de Santa Catarina e no Vale do Itajaí, fundando, em 1850/51, a Colônia Dona Francisca, hoje Joinville, para depois povoar Blumenau, em 1854. Seu fundador, o farmacêutico Dr. Hermann Blumenau, ficou encantado com o local e comprou terras para a formação de uma colônia na região. Hoje Santa Catarina é o mais alemão dos estados brasileiros — calcula-se que 35% de sua população tenha essa ascendência.
Pouco sabia dessa história, mas desde minha adolescência, vivida em Florianópolis, fazia esporádicas viagens à região; primeiramente pelo interesse musical, pois na região do Vale Europeu acontece o evento River Rock de Indaial, festival de três dias que ocorre na segunda semana de agosto, reunindo bandas de rock, heavy metal e suas vertentes. Na época, eram os três melhores dias do ano para mim! Com o passar do tempo, e depois de tantas viagens, a afinidade musical me levou a fazer eternas amizades na região. Além de escutar bandas como Sodamned, Rhestus, Juggernaut, Perpetual Dreams, Pain of Soul, Volkmort, e participar da concepção de um projeto que começou com meus grandes amigos Marcelo, Malária e Rato — hoje extremamente conhecidos na banda Fatal Encarned. Infelizmente a distância atrapalhou minha participação, mas nunca o prestígio que tive de conviver com essas figuras. Meus amigos me levaram a lugares onde me senti na Alemanha. A cervejaria Eisenbahn, por exemplo, faz cerveja artesanal na região e foi criada por uma família apaixonada por cervejas que trouxe para o Brasil a legítima tradição de seu país de origem. Nunca bebi melhor cerveja!
Outro lugar que vale um passeio é o Parque Vila Germânica, onde ocorre a conhecida Oktoberfest. A excelente gastronomia local oferece pratos como Kassler (costeleta de porco, acompanhada de salsichas branca e vermelha, purê e chucrute), Eisbein (joelho de porco com purê, chucrute e salsichas branca e vermelha) ou o Marreco recheado com arroz, repolho roxo e purê de batata e de maçã. Indico a choperia e restaurante Thapyoca, construída em um prédio de 1880, onde funcionava um moinho de farinha de milho — o lugar proporciona uma vista rara.
Pomerode, a mais alemã de todas as cidades, também é ponto de parada obrigatório: a Festa Pomerana, com mais enfoque cultural que a Oktoberfest, convida para 11 dias de música, dança, comidas típicas e, claro, muito chope. Há ainda outros festivais, como o Stammtisch, que ocorre em fevereiro, na Praça Jorge Lacerda. Dá para aproveitar o dia inteiro de música, com participação exclusiva de grupos com repertório típico alemão. No inverno, o Parque Municipal de Eventos se transforma para receber o aconchegante Festival Gastronômico, que é destaque no polo gastronômico da região do Vale Europeu. No local, todos os restaurantes da cidade transferem suas estruturas e se unem na chamada “Vila Gastronômica”, ricamente decorada e deliciosamente bem servida.
Estas são minhas lembranças do Vale Europeu, região que detém uma das melhores qualidades de vida do Brasil. Suas forças econômicas e suas tradições culturais são para mim uma prova de que o ano Brasil-Alemanha tem tudo para dar certo — pelo menos na Alemanha já deu!
