As lembranças da Vila Mariana aquecem o coração da maior estrela do rock brasileiro. Aqui ela nasceu, cresceu e teve seu primeiro filho. Suas histórias passam pelo casarão da rua Joaquim Távora, passeios na floresta Ibirapuera e muitas aventuras na casa da rua Pelotas

A mais completa tradução da cidade de São Paulo nasceu dia 31 de dezembro de 1947 e veio morar na rua Joaquim Távora, 670, onde viveu até os 19 anos. A mãe Romilda Padula Jones e o pai Charles Fenley Jones saíram de Rio Claro, direto para a Vila Mariana: “Meu pai tinha uns amigos no bairro que o ajudaram a encontrar um lugar para a família ir morar. Primeiro se estabeleceram na rua Vergueiro, bem perto da estação de bonde, nesta época eu ainda não era nascida”,inicia Rita.

Quando a caçula dos Jones nasceu, a família já vivia no imenso casarão na Joaquim Távora. A mãe, católica praticante, freqüentava a Paróquia Santo Inácio de Loyola e Rita e as irmãs Mary Lee e Virginia Lee (que atualmente mora na rua Rafael de Barros) sempre a acompanhavam. “Lá fiz a Primeira Comunhão e Crisma”. Na Semana Santa, as irmãs eram os anjinhos da procissão! “Ganhei de minha mãe duas pinturas à óleo da igreja quando esta foi modernizada”

A família aventurava-se pelo bairro: “Aos domingos, depois da missa obrigatória na Santo Inácio, meu pai – que não ia à missa nem morto! – nos levava para um piquenique na então Floresta do Ibirapuera. Lá plantávamos de tudo, nem precisávamos fazer feira e cada um da família escolhia três árvores nativas para cuidar. Lamentamos muito quando vimos os tratores derrubando nossa querida ‘rocinha’, mas a tal da grana que ergue e destrói coisas belas é uma constante em São Paulo”, reflete.

A superstar, que sonhava ser médica veterinária ou atriz de cinema, estudou no Liceu Pasteur: “Do jardim de infância ao científico e até hoje sonho muito com esta época”, confessa. Rita também tem doces lembranças da casa em que vivia com a família – e que hoje não existe mais: “O casarão da Joaquim Távora fora uma escola antes, era cheio de salas e quartos, de sobes de desces e depois que eu nasci se transformou no meu castelo encantado. Minhas irmãs e eu ensaiávamos danças e teatrinhos no amplo porão da casa. Era uma farra. Colecionávamos posters de filmes, fotos de ídolos, paisagens bonitas e com o tempo todas as paredes do porão viraram o Planeta Lee”.

A música sempre esteve presente: a mãe era pianista e desde cedo Rita já rabiscava algumas letras: “Havia uma molecada aqui e ali que montava banda, mas nada além de um hobby passageiro. Eu tive uma banda só de meninas no Pasteur que fez um sucesso razoável nos festivais de escolas, chamava-se The Teenage Singers”.

Aos 19 anos, com Arnaldo Baptista e Sérgio Dias, Rita lança Os Mutantes. Nesta mesma época casou-se com Arnaldo e mudou-se da Vila Mariana. Mas não demorou para voltar ao bairro – então separada do marido: “Morei em vários lugares em São Paulo, mas um belo dia bateu uma baita saudade de Vila Mariana. Encontrei um sobradinho simpático na rua Pelotas longe o suficiente da casa dos meus pais, mas perto o bastante para ir a pé fazer uma visitinha e filar um rango gostoso”. Era comum vê-la andando pelas ruas. Ela recorda de uma passagem engraçada que alvoroçou a vizinhança: “Eu morava com Ziggy e Martha, um casal de maracajás que roubei de um cara que não os tratava bem. Certa vez Ziggy fugiu e foi um reboliço, todos sabiam que eu tinha duas ‘onças’ em casa, então ficaram com medo de me ajudar na busca. Fui encontrá-lo preso num caixote de madeira numa padaria na esquina da rua Tutóia”.

Rita morava sozinha na rua Pelotas e na biografia alucinada “Rita Lee Mora ao Lado”, do jornalista Henrique Bartsch (veja box ao lado), há uma divertida passagem sobre a visita dos Novos Baianos. Porém há também uma triste recordação, quando foi presa grávida do primeiro filho, Beto Lee. “Em agosto de 76, sete meganhas invadiram minha casa sem qualquer mandado e plantaram um monte de cannabis. Eu estava grávida de dois meses e nem queria ver drogas pela frente, mas fui presa para servir de ‘mau exemplo` para a juventude”. Quando o DEIC foi bombardeado escutei o estrondo de casa. Dia seguinte tentei passar por lá para comemorar, mas a região estava interditada e naquela época a gente morria de medo de tudo”. A roqueira teve prisão domiciliar decretada, e a casa guardada por policiais até que o filho nasceu e o pai, Roberto de Carvalho, alugou uma pequeno apartamento para morarem na rua Eça de Queiros .

O Instituto Biológico era parte do imenso jardim onde Rita Lee vivia. De lá, surgiu em 1986 o protagonista de seus três livros infantis. Dr. Alex, o cientista que vira cobaia e sai pelo mundo cheio de aventuras ecológicas. “O Instituto Biológico ficava no caminho entre nossa casa da Joaquim Távora e a Floresta do Ibirapuera. Meu pai conhecia umas pessoas que trabalhavam lá e sempre dava um jeito de levar as filhas para ver as pesquisas que faziam. Nessas, eu fiquei profundamente abalada com as pobres cobaias que eram sacrificadas sem o menor respeito. O Dr. Alex surgiu quando imaginei um daqueles ratinhos brancos fazendo o papel de um cientista pacifista que ‘vingaria’ a brutalidade dos humanos a todos os animais do planeta”.

A maioria de seus registros fotográfico desta época foi perdido em um assalto quando morava em um sítio próximo à capital. “Certa vez escreveram na parede de casa uma frase que ficou marcada para sempre: Rita, para você o pulo do gato e o brilho das estrelas! Minha mãe achou tão lindo que tirou uma foto mostrando toda a fachada da casa, mas foi perdida junto com todo o baú daquele tempo… Snif..”.

A rainha do rock do Brasil pôde ser vista pelo bairro mês passado. Com uma equipe que produz o novo DVD (previsto para este semestre) gravou imagens, passeou pela sua antiga Vila e assistiu a missa na Igreja Santo Inácio.”Tenho saudades de tudo… Do caminho que fazia a pé para a escola, das sessões de cinema que nosso vizinho fazia, da molecada da rua, do armazém do Seu João, das festinhas com Ray Conniff tocando na vitrola, do disco do Elvis Presley que roubei de um colega, das procissões da Semana Santa na Santo Inácio, das travessuras no Liceu Pasteur… Mas principalmente da minha antiga família e do meu castelo encantado da Joaquim Távora”, despede-se.

Biografia Alucinada

Quem tiver interesse em conhecer um pouco mais sobre a vida de Rita Lee não pode deixar de ler Rita Lee mora ao lado, do jornalista e músico Henrique Barsh. A biografia alucinada da rainha do rock, como é apresentado o livro, aconteceu por acaso: “Através de uma busca que fiz no ICQ, que na época tinha um mecanismo de associar nomes de pessoas a possíveis endereços de e-mail, mandei uma mensagem teste e Rita respondeu. A princípio confesso que até duvidei um pouco, achando que podia ser algum assessor que falasse por ela. Mas depois de conversa vai conversa vem, vi que era ela mesmo”, informa Henrique.

A conversa pela internet entre Rita Lee e Henrique durou cerca de 3 anos. Foi quando ele percebeu que existia uma enormidade de histórias naquelas mensagens. “Sugeri que ela contasse as histórias em um livro, pois as pessoas e fãs em geral nem imaginavam todas aquelas coisas pelas quais ela havia passado. Negou-se veementemente. Depois senti que caberia a mim concretizar minha própria ideia”.

A obra conta a trajetória de Rita desde o nascimento até seus 50 anos de idade, seguindo uma ordem cronológica. É dividido em duas partes, tendo como ponto de partida sua saída dos Mutantes e o começo da carreira solo. “Muita coisa é conhecida pelas pessoas que acompanham a carreira da Rita, mas a grande maioria são histórias de bastidores, que nunca haviam sido contadas direto da fonte. Muita coisa da infância, os dramas da adolescência, as dúvidas de ter que encarar sozinha o que sempre fez em grupo, filhos, marido, drogas, aventuras, filosofia e muito mais”. Henrique ressalta que desde que começou a escrever, disse a Rita que apenas publicaria se ela aprovasse. “Ela não cortou uma linha sequer, por mais dura e sofrida que a história tivesse sido. Não só aprovou como muito me ajuda na divulgação!”. 

Pedaço da Vila: Quando surgiu Bárbara Farniente, a vizinha fictícia do pedaço que costura a história?

Henrique Bartsch: A partir da hora que decidí escrever a história, decisões teriam que ser tomadas. Resolví fazer a narrativa estritamente com a perspectiva da Rita, e o artifício literário foi arrumar um personagem que contasse aquelas histórias. Aí surgiu Bárbara Farniente.

Pedaço da Vila: Faniente por causa da música Lança Perfume? Quanto porcento ela tem de realidade?

Henrique Bartsch: Farniente vem de Lança Perfume, vem “nada fazer”,já que a personagem apenas conta a história e tira vários proveitos disso, e também uma brincadeira com os italianos. Farniente também “roubou” muitas histórias de Rita, e assim sendo, fora algumas ajeitadas para colocá-la em certas situações, tudo é muito mais real do que se possa imaginar.

Pedaço da Vila: A história se passa boa parte na Vila Mariana, você chegou a conhecer o bairro?

Henrique Bartsch: Conheço apenas e passagem, em algumas viagens a São Paulo, mas como foi em outras épocas, não prestei a devida atenção.

Pedaço da Vila: Quais foram suas fontes de pesquisa, além dos dados fornecidos por Rita Lee?

Henrique Bartsch: Leio todo e qualquer livro que fale de música popular, biografias e também sempre seguí a carreira de Rita desde Os Mutantes e Tropicália.

Pedaço da Vila: Você chegou a entrevistar alguns dos personagens reais do livro?

Henrique Bartsch: Nenhum, apesar de que em outras épocas conversei muito com Cláudio César Dias Baptista, algumas vezes com o Sérgio e com o Liminha. O mais curioso é que depois de ter escrito o livro é que estou conhecendo os personagens. Antonio Bivar, Nelson Motta, Bola.
