“É GREVE DE BONDES….” GRITAVA O MOTORNEIRO

Não eram nem 7 da manhã e a gritaria do motorneiro do bonde 47 Vila Mariana já colocava a vizinhança em estado de alerta. Começava alí a primeira greve de bondes de São Paulo. Imagina o que era aquilo para crianças como eu e o Levy? Ficamos eufóricos! Saímos para a rua, sob protestos de nossos pais, para ver o que era aquilo. Imediatamente deparamos com uma fila de bondes — pelo menos uns oito ou nove — parados com uma multidão aglomerada em volta deles, numa discussão interminável e gritos de resistência como: O BONDE É DO POVO…O BONDE É DO POVO. Ou: ABAIXO A CMTC…ABAIXO A CMTC. Um tumulto. Uma loucura que nós nunca tínhamos visto. Lembro perfeitamente da excitação com aquele acontecimento. Estavam todos na rua: o Seu Tanabe da venda; o Nicola; o André do açougue; o Nino da quitanda, o Luciano sapateiro; o Chiquinho barbeiro; o Laerte da Dona Maria, os médicos Dr .Tácito e Dr. Amorim, da rua Áurea, o Dr. Mannis, dentista, as freiras do Colégio Cristo Rei, o jornaleiro Alonso, o Seu Roberto da auto-escola, o Dr. Juvenal, diretor do Instituto Biológico — com seu chapéu e sua bengala — a minha mãe, Dona Luiza, a Dona Aline, nossa vizinha… Todas as mulheres que eram donas de casa e também e, principalmente, aquelas que não tinham conseguido condução para ir para o trabalho. 

Muita briga, gritaria, discussão e até alguns mais violentos querendo fazer o bonde andar de qualquer jeito. Era impossível. A primeira greve de bondes de São Paulo já era realidade. Hoje se sabe que nessa greve de 1960, deixaram de circular 250 bondes durante cinco dias, causando uma catástrofe de transportes na cidade — que ainda se agravou com manifestações para abaixar o preço da passagem entre outras solicitações, chegando a periclitante situação de a CMTC-Cia Municipal de Transportes Coletivos pedir ao então prefeito uma intervenção, decretando estado de sítio na cidade. Antes, a CMTC já tinha feito uma greve em que os motorneiros e cobradores ficaram 6 dias sem fazer a barba, em protesto contra o não aumento de salários. O povo queria briga. 

Eu e o Levy vimos com nossos olhos um motorneiro pegar uma barra de ferro e partir para cima de um senhor com um revólver aos gritos de “queremos aumento”. A turma do “deixa pra lá” conteve os ânimos, mas os bondes não saíram do lugar naquele dia. Para mim e para o Levy era dia de festa. Ouvimos discursos inflamados — sem entender muito bem — de funcionários da Cia de Bondes em cima de caixotes de cerveja, conclamando a população para a causa com muitas ofensas e brigas. Apareceram o sorveteiro, o pipoqueiro, o quebra-queixo, o vendedor de sacos de farinha, o cigarreiro que vendia cigarro avulso e muitos outros para aproveitar a multidão que não podia se locomover e ia passar o dia todo ali.

Os motoristas com seus carros de aluguel (táxis), que já existiam na Vila Mariana “chic”, fizeram nesses 5 dias um faturamento extra, pois os ônibus ficavam lotados e não davam conta do transporte de tantas pessoas. 

Hoje, nesses anos conturbados em que vivemos, eu e o Levy sentimos até uma certa saudade daquela greve romântica que foi a dos bondes que passavam na Vila Mariana, nos anos 60. Nunca mais sairão da nossa mente os gritos libertários de:“ABAIXO A CMTC. VIVA OS BONDES. NÓS QUEREMOS AUMENTO. O POVO UNIDO JAMAIS SERÁ VENCIDO”.
